During the Spring Festival, my family and I celebrate the traditional Chinese New Year. We gather together and enjoy a variety of activities and customs.
On the eve of the Spring Festival, we have a big family reunion dinner. We prepare a feast with various delicious dishes, such as dumplings, fish, and sticky rice cake. We believe that these foods bring good luck and prosperity for the coming year. After dinner, we usually stay up late to welcome the New Year and watch the annual Spring Festival Gala on TV.
Another important tradition is setting off firecrackers and fireworks. The loud noises and bright lights are believed to scare away evil spirits and bring good fortune. We also decorate our homes with red lanterns, couplets, and paper cuttings, which symbolize happiness, wealth, and good luck.
Throughout the holiday, we enjoy spending time together as a family. We play traditional games, such as mahjong and cards, and watch movies or TV shows. We also take the opportunity to relax and recharge for the upcoming year.
